Skins Collections in CS2

Skins in CS2 are released in collections, which usually share a common theme and visual style. Their release is often tied to major updates, operation launches, or significant esports events, and there are now over thirty of them. Since each collection includes finishes for various weapon types, they’re a great option if you want to build an inventory with a consistent aesthetic. To understand which collections to prioritize, it helps to know how they differ and what types exist.

Types of Collections

All collections in CS2 can be divided into several groups based on availability.

  • Operation Collections are only available for a limited time, after which their skins stop dropping. As a result, items from these collections can now only be purchased on the Community Market or third-party sites like Lis-Skins.ru. Some collections may remain accessible as souvenir packages or drop for players who pay to participate in active operations.
  • Active Collections include skins that can drop as weekly rewards. This category includes eight collections, such as The Italy, The Train, and The Safehouse. The list was last updated in 2018 when 2018 Inferno and 2018 Nuke were added.
  • Inactive Collections are no longer available through the weekly drop system. Skins from these collections can be obtained by opening souvenir cases or purchased from other players.

The Anubis Collection

The Anubis Collection deserves a separate mention. Released in April 2023, most designs in this collection are connected to ancient Egyptian themes. It was named after the map Anubis, which returned to the competitive map pool. Skin designs feature various motifs—from mummy wrap patterns on the Tec-9 Mummy’s Rot to a 3D map of the Nile on the AWP Black Nile. In any case, if you're looking for a set of skins united by a common theme, this is an excellent choice.

Note that skins from this collection are not part of the weekly drop system. To obtain them, you’ll need to purchase souvenir packages from the in-game store.

Regardless of your preferred style, among the many skin collections in CS2, you’re sure to find something suitable. Moreover, understanding their types helps you better recognize which skins become valuable and rare—making them potentially smart investments.
